Mobile Agriculture Classroom to Visit Crawford and Carroll County Schools

Mobile Agriculture Classroom to Visit Crawford and Carroll County Schools

A 36-foot mobile agriculture classroom will visit elementary schools in Crawford and Carroll counties March 16–20, giving local third- and fourth-grade students a hands-on look at plant science and food production.

The Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation is bringing the Seed Survivor Mobile Classroom to the area as part of a statewide educational tour. The program offers a curriculum-based learning experience designed to teach students how plants grow and how agriculture connects to everyday life.

Inside the mobile classroom, students rotate through interactive stations featuring displays about plant growth, multimedia learning activities, virtual reality experiences, and seed-planting exercises.

According to program organizers, the initiative helps connect classroom science lessons to real-world agricultural practices. Students learn how agriculture influences the food they eat and gain exposure to potential careers in plant science and related fields.

The mobile classroom is scheduled to visit the following schools during the week:

  • Monday, March 16: Boyer Valley Elementary School, Dunlap

  • Tuesday, March 17: Schleswig School, Schleswig

  • Wednesday, March 18: Broadway Elementary, Denison

  • Thursday, March 19: Adams Elementary, Carroll

  • Friday, March 20: St. Lawrence School, Carroll

The Seed Survivor Mobile Classroom is part of a nine-week Iowa tour running from mid-February through mid-April. During that time, the program will visit 45 schools across 13 Iowa counties.
