16-Year-Old Audubon Teen Killed in Highway 71 Crash Involving Semi and Tractor

(AUDUBON COUNTY, Iowa) A 16-year-old Audubon teenager was killed and another person was seriously injured in a collision involving a semi-truck and a farm tractor Sunday morning in Audubon County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:47 a.m. on October 25 along U.S. Highway 71, south of 220th Street.

Investigators say a 2018 Freightliner semi-truck, driven by 46-year-old Kenneth Lee Mohr of Audubon, was traveling northbound on Highway 71 when it struck the rear of a northbound 1986 John Deere 4450 tractor pulling a trailer.

The tractor was operated by 16-year-old Tatum Eugene Christensen of Audubon. Authorities say Christensen was ejected from the tractor during the collision and pronounced dead at the scene.
Mohr sustained serious injuries and was transported by LifeFlight to a medical center for treatment. His current condition has not been released.

The crash resulted in the temporary closure of a portion of Highway 71 south of Audubon while emergency crews responded and investigated the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash, with assistance from the Audubon Police Department, Audubon County Sheriff's Office and local emergency responders.
