Local Students Receive Scholarships from NEW Cooperative
NEW Cooperative is pleased to announce the 14 recipients of their $2,000 agriculture-based scholarships in 2024. The recipients are:
Elizabeth Hadley (Dean Hadley) from Afton;
Charles Schon (Joey & Monica Schon) of Coon Rapids;
Keegan Bailey (Larry & Kelsey Bailey) of Creston;
Austin Evans (Rob & April Evans) from Creston;
Ethan James (Todd & Katie James) of Corning;
Johnathan Graeve (Chris & Julie Graeve) of Denison;
Jack Mason (Trent Angie Mason) of Duncombe;
Kortney Kogel (Shayne & Michelle Kogel) of Emmetsburg;
Tyson Tessum (Tyler & Ashley Tessum) from Everly;
Dalton Konz (Brian & Heidi Konz) from Garner;
John Myers (JD & Jenni Myers) of Hardy;
Jacob Fuller (Brian & Bobbie Fuller) of Osceola;
Ella Peterson (Bob & Kim Peterson) from Red Oak;
Ava McIntire (Josh & Stacy McIntire) from Thor;
Mason Graham, graduating senior from Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School, was also announced as the recipient of NEW’s $4,000 Bob Wallentine Memorial Scholarship. Upon graduation, Graham, the son of Matt Graham from Garner, will pursue his ag business degree at Iowa State University.
Scholarship recipients were selected according to their outstanding leadership potential and interest in pursuing a career in agriculture. Applicants must be full-time students that have been accepted into an accredited 2-year college or a 4-year university and must be a member of NEW Cooperative or the dependent of a NEW Cooperative member. Scholarship applicants for the Bob Wallentine Memorial scholarship must be a full-time undergraduate student at a four-year university pursuing an agricultural business degree.
“We are thankful for the hard work of our scholarship committee, which includes ag industry representatives and members of NEW’s senior management team,” said Gary Moritz, Communications Director.
“They had a big task selecting our recipients as we received applications from many veryqualified candidates. We are proud to support the next generation of ag leaders.”
