IowaFRW Members Elected Delegates to July RNC Conventionon in Milwaukee
Sixteen Iowa Federation of Republican Women members will serve
as delegates and alternate delegates to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee July 15-18 to represent Iowa in formally nominating the president and vice president of the United States on the Republican ticket. While the presumptive presidential nominee is Donald J. Trump, the former president has yet to name a running mate.
“It is an honor to represent Iowa as a delegate at the Republican National Convention, especiallyalongside IowaFRW sisters,” said IowaFRW President Michelle Crawford, from Scott County, a first- time national delegate.
“We are thrilled that our members are so actively engaged that they’re proudly representing our state at convention.”
IowaFRW members who are delegates and alternate delegates are (in alphabetical order): Attorney General Brenna Bird; Rachel Cadena; Michelle Crawford; Darla Chappel; Gwen Ecklund; Rep.
Cindy Golding; Debra Heldt; Tracee Knapp; Kelley Koch; Jeanita McNulty; Rep. Anne Osmundson; Teresa Paulsrud; Starlyn Perdue; Governor Kim Reynolds, Tamara Scott, Sen.
Cherielynn Westrich.
“I am excited to represent Iowa at this convention as one of the at-large alternates and be a part of this step in taking our country back from the liberal craziness that we have been forced to live
through recently,” said Gwen Ecklund, a two-time former IowaFRW president from Crawford County.
“I have participated in several RNC conventions over the years as a guest and attended
National Federation of Republican Women events held during convention. In addition to official convention duties I will attend the NFRW and Maggie’s List events,” said Ecklund, who also serves
at Maggie’s List Iowa director.
The Republican National Convention, run by the Republican National Committee (RNC) is held every
four years since 1856. This year the RNC is expecting 50,000 guests in Milwaukee, including the
delegates. Thousands of delegates and alternates are selected by all 56 states and territories.
The Iowa Federation of Republican Women, founded in Tama County in 1939, unites the voices
and values within the Republican Party. The IowaFRW (www.iowafrw.org), with local clubs and
members throughout the state, proudly represents the party that first made it possible for women to vote in the United States, and works to increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
