Statewide bicycle ride rolls into Winterset today with 20K pedal pushers
(KJAN) Thousands of bicyclists made their way from Red Oak to Atlantic during day two of the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. Gail Tisch from Wisconsin says it's hard to describe RAGBRAI (RAG-bry) to people who aren't part of it.
"You're biking, so it's a very athletic activity," Tisch says, "but you come into the towns and they have smoothies and bananas and delicious food ready, everybody's very welcoming and there's lots to see."
John Snidarich of Minnesota says food's great, but it's the people that make the ride what it is. * [KJANragbrai2] :05 :it's fanatastic." * (as said) "I tell ya, it's surreal," Snidarich says. "It's a lot of things happening. It's fantastic."
Today is day three of RAGRAI. The 82-mile route runs from Atlantic to Winterset.
