Atlantic Police Department and the Atlantic Community School District Establishing Partnership to Create a School Resource Officer Position
According the APD Facebook page, "the Atlantic Police Department and the Atlantic Community School District are in the process of a partnership that would create a School Resource Officer Position.
In June of 2024, our agency applied for a federal grant that would help with funding this position and we are expecting to hear if we will be awarded the grant at the end of this month or first of October. Once we know our status with the grant, we can move forward with posting the opening for the position.
Our ultimate goal is to have an officer hired for this position and placed upon returning from Christmas break.
As the APD and ACSD have committed to a partnership to fund the position, we are seeking community support and donations to assist with additional equipment that will need to be purchased to support this added position to our agency."
