Denison Community School District Encouraging Local Veterans and the Public to Join them for Veterans Day Programs
Denison Community Schools will honor Veterans Day with special activities in early November. Since November 11 is a teacher in-service day, each school in the district will hold observances the week prior to Veterans Day.
Denison High School
On Thursday, November 7, at 2:15 p.m., Denison High School will host a Veterans Day Program in the high school gymnasium. The program will feature tributes from the high school band, choir, and speech club, as well as a special guest speaker. Local Veterans will be recognized during an honorary “Patriots Walk,” followed by a reception in the library sponsored by the Student Council and FCCLA. Additionally, students have organized a “Pie a Teacher” fundraiser, with proceeds going to local veteran organizations.
Denison Middle School
Denison Middle School will host a breakfast for Veterans on Friday, November 8, at 7:15 a.m. in the FCS room. This event is organized by the Middle School Student Council to show appreciation for Veterans in the community.
Denison Elementary School
Denison Elementary School’s Veterans Day program will take place in the school gymnasium on Friday, November 8, at 8:45 a.m. Veterans are encouraged to attend and participate in the program.
Broadway Elementary School
Due to ongoing construction, Broadway Elementary School will not hold a Veterans Day program this year. However, the school will be running a Penny War fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting a local Honor Flight. Additional classroom activities and observances will also be held.
Denison Community Schools warmly invite Veterans to join any of these events as we honor their service and sacrifice.
