Schleswig’s Loretta Reimers Recognized by ISU Extension as a 2025 “Women Impacting Agriculture” Honoree

SCHLESWIG, Iowa — A Crawford County farm manager and community leader is being recognized statewide for her impact on Iowa agriculture.
Loretta Reimers of Schleswig was named one of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s 2025 “Women Impacting Agriculture” honorees through its Women in Ag program. The recognition was announced following the ninth annual Women in Ag Leadership Conference, held Dec. 3–4 in Ames.
According to ISU Extension and Outreach, the “Women Impacting Agriculture” recognition celebrates individuals who help strengthen Iowa’s rural communities through leadership, stewardship of natural resources, and efforts that support long-term economic resiliency in agriculture.
Reimers was honored for her hands-on approach to farm management and her role as a trusted voice in Crawford County agriculture. Working alongside her son and farm tenants, she conducts annual reviews of farm performance, identifies opportunities for improvement, and focuses on both profitability and long-term stewardship.
ISU Extension noted Reimers is widely respected for her financial expertise and negotiation skills, including helping landowners secure fair agreements with green-energy developers. She also encourages women in agriculture to better understand the value of their land and is known for active participation in ISU Extension programs, where she often mentors others through thoughtful questions and practical guidance.
Beyond the farm, Reimers is also involved in her community through music, playing in her church’s German band.
The 2025 honorees also include Tamara Deal of Guthrie County, Darcy Maulsby of Calhoun County, and Natalie Paino of Bremer County.
