Odebolt Woman Charged With Pandering for Prostitution and Harassment

AURELIA, Iowa — A Northwest Iowa woman has been charged following a series of incidents in Aurelia late last month that authorities say involved threats and requests for money.
According to court records, 47-year-old Kristal Miller of Odebolt was arrested on a warrant and is facing three charges, including pandering for prostitution and two counts of first-degree harassment. The charges stem from incidents reported on December 18, 2025.
Investigators say the first incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. at a convenience store on Pearl Street in Aurelia. Miller allegedly approached employees and customers asking for money and made statements claiming she was being sought by the FBI. Court documents indicate she also made threats toward individuals at the store, including warning that she would kill anyone who contacted law enforcement. During the encounter, she reportedly threatened to strangle an employee after they refused to assist her with clothing.
Roughly 45 minutes later, authorities say Miller approached a female employee outside a local daycare and again asked for money. Court records state Miller suggested the woman leave her boyfriend, claiming they would both receive payment if she did. When the employee declined, Miller allegedly became verbally aggressive and made additional threats, including statements about stealing the woman’s vehicle and taking her away.
Miller was later taken into custody and booked into the Cherokee County Jail. She is being held on a $5,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, January 9, in Cherokee.
