Representative Steve Holt Announces Re-Election Bid for Iowa House
DENISON, Iowa – Iowa State Representative Steve Holt (R-Denison) announced he will seek his seventh term representing Northwest Iowa in the Iowa House.
“It is my honor to serve the great people of Iowa in the Statehouse,” Holt said. “Throughout my time in Des Moines, we’ve been able to accomplish historical wins protecting individual liberties and lowering the tax burden. I am eager to continue my work in the Iowa House to ensure that common sense continues to prevail against the radical ideas taking hold in other parts of the country.”
Speaker Pat Grassley (R-New Hartford) expressed his support for Representative Holt.
“Representative Holt is a pivotal member of the Iowa House,” Grassley said. “As chair of the Judiciary Committee, he has led countless common-sense policies, including fighting eminent domain abuse and protecting Iowa girls from men in private spaces like bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports. Steve Holt is someone that Iowa families can trust to produce real results on issues most important to them.”
Steve Holt was first elected to the Iowa House in 2014. He serves House District 12, which includes Ida and Crawford Counties and the northern portion of Shelby County. During his time in the Iowa House, Steve has been a leading advocate for property owner rights, keeping men out of girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms, and protecting girls’ sports. Additionally, he’s supported historical tax relief for Iowa families, including property tax relief, to cut costs for Iowa families. He serves as the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee where has an integral role in ensuring the state’s court and legal system best serves Iowans. Steve also serves on Government Oversight, Higher Education, Public Safety, and Ways and Means Committees.
Holt is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Steve and his wife, Crystal, reside in Denison and attend Grace Evangelical Free Church. Steve and Crystal have five children and three grandchildren.
