(Via KMALand)

According to a Friday morning report, the Missouri River Conference is expected to send invitations to Lewis Central, Harlan, Glenwood and Denison-Schleswig.

Peter Burtnett of the Daily Nonpareil reported on X that the league would extend offers to the four Hawkeye Ten Conference schools with hopes of bringing the conference to 12 schools. That could lead to a possible split into North and South divisions.

The Missouri River Conference is currently made up of Council Bluffs schools Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson as well as Bishop Heelan Catholic, Sioux City East, Sioux City North and Sioux City West in Sioux City. Sergeant Bluff-Luton and Le Mars are the other two in the eight-school league.

The news comes in the wake of Shenandoah and Red Oak showing intrest in leaving the Hawkeye Ten and accepting their invitation into the Western Iowa Conference.
