Crawford County Supervisors Further Wind Turbine Moratorium
The Crawford County Board of Supervisors continued a moratorium on new wind turbine construction during their weekly meeting Tuesday. Scout Clean Energy director of development Mark Wengierski fielded questions from supervisors and addressed concerns from several citizens. Most of the 45-minute conversation centered upon potential noise from the machines with additional debate over safety and flicker. The moratorium expires on July 1 with the goal of establishing a new ordinance.
The board terminated Crawford County's current autopsy transportation agreement. Assistant County Attorney Martha Sibbel is set to negotiate a new offer that includes both Huebner Funeral Home and the Pauley Jones & Pfannebecker Funeral Home.
County Engineer Paul Assman submitted a utility permit for Western Iowa Power Cooperative to install an overhead line crossing L Avenue just west of Rocky Run. He updated the board on the project of paving the shoulder of E59. Assman also mentioned that the grade crew is working on I Avenue before moving to 160th Street, the bridge crew is doing a replacement on 200th Street and will later move to N Avenue, and the roadside crew is mainly out spraying.
The supervisors endorsed a wage agreement with the secondary road administrative assistants to the engineer for next fiscal year. They also resolved to accept a 28E Agreement with Carroll County regarding data backups and approved a residential tax abatement for a parcel on the 1900 block of Q Avenue near Arion.
