Crawford County raising veteran awareness with Operation Green Light
Crawford County will be part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness about veterans struggling to connect with benefits after serving their country.
The Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a proclamation supporting Operation Green Light last week. Veterans Affairs Director Louise Galbraith says they are working on the green light setup at the courthouse and they invite the public to participate as well.
“Why are there green lights and windows at the courthouse? It’s in honor of our veterans and just to bring forth veteran awareness. There’s so many things going on with veterans with new law changes and everything that this has just been a really pivotal year for veterans services. So you see a green light and it reminds us to thank a veteran,” said Louise Galbraith.
She says counties and veterans affairs offices all over the United States are joining this first-year program that started during July. The green lights will shine brightest during the week around Veteran’s Day which is one month away on Friday, November 11th.
