Carroll native returns to western Iowa for Supreme Court special session
The Iowa Supreme Court is holding a special session in Denison on Tuesday night.
The court will hear oral arguments in the Donna Reed Theater at 7:00 p.m. with the event free and open to the public. Matthew McDermott is one of the justices on the court and says returning to West Central Iowa is special to him after growing up in Carroll.
“I’m staying at my mom’s house on Tuesday night. As someone who used to go swimming at Yellow Smoke a lot and hang out there it’s really cool for me to get back and so the fact that we’re going to be over there and I think going to be seeing a fair number of friendly faces before and after I’m just excited to be going,” said McDermott.
McDermott will visit Kuemper High School in Carroll on Wednesday morning as one of eight different justice visits to Denison area high schools this week. The public can also visit with the supreme court justices in the Donna Reed Theater lobby after Tuesday night’s special session.
