Odd/Even Snow Parking Could Happen Again This Week

Odd/Even Snow Parking Could Happen Again This Week

Forecasters are calling for snow and ice to return in Iowa this week.

Public Works Director Eric Martens says Denison seems to be adjusting pretty well to the new odd/even parking approach to snow removal.

“We have put some pamphlets in the windows of some cars. We have not done any towing or any enforcement. Right now we’re trying to keep the community abreast of what we would like to see and what it’s going to do for future snow removal and making sure everyone’s got the same clean streets,” said Martens.

A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service says up to four inches of snow could arrive Wednesday afternoon followed by an estimated quarter-inch of ice accumulation with possible wind gusts of 40 miles per hour.

Martens says no two storms are the same.

“Every snow is different. Every one of them acts different. There’s several things that go into play. Temperatures, moisture, how it came down, what time of the day it came down, how much traffic’s driven on it. So that changes a lot on how it’s handled and treated,” said Martens.
