Supervisors Discuss Future of Crawford County Farm
The board of supervisors discussed the future of the Crawford County farm this week.
Chairman Ty Rosburg says they talked about a few different options.
“If we had an ag program especially for our FFAers or 4-H kids that may love agriculture but aren’t even involved with a family farm whether it be for gardening or whatever kind of program they thought they would want to run. Maybe lease it out to a new farmer or something like that. Just different options we’ve looked at,” said Rosburg. “Ground prices are pretty good right now. Maybe we could sell that and use it to upgrade some systems somewhere. I’m all about growing Crawford County and providing more opportunity for our young people and that money could help with either development or at least saving tax dollars in the long run.”
He says things like the farm, the expanding Monarch Career Academy, and others are needed to compete with opportunities at other schools in the area.
Rosburg also says the board accepted the results of special school elections from Denison and IKM-Manning in what he called the shortest canvass since he’s been a supervisor.
