Reimagining the Denison City Center
Crawford County Board of Supervisors Chairman Ty Rosburg says the City Center is slated for renovations, particularly to the basement. The first floor will have minor repairs around the windows, and retaining gates installed. In the basement, a rebuilt room will be used for locking, monitoring, and storing medications. Rosburg says work will also be done to provide a bigger conference room for multifaceted purposes.
“We are doing some updates down there for like a bigger conference type room if we could use it for vaccination or if there's an emergency situation in the county, just for instance if there be a tornado or floods and we had to have the media in or you know different types of things where you need a larger room for emergency management type activities.”
Rosburg says there is currently some water damage, and Vice Chairman Jean Heiden says there is carpeting that needs to be removed and replaced. There may be dividers installed so a training facility for county purposes can be located there. Offices will be set aside for Rolling Hills Community Services, the Department of Human Services, and the management team. Whether those offices will be located upstairs or downstairs, Rosburg says that is up to the Board of Health.
“They know what they need better than this board does, we're just trying to make sure we help them manage the finances for the county.”
It is currently unknown when the updates will occur as there have been difficulties finding a contractor to do the work.
