Monday News Headlines! 10/05/2020

-Yesterday, October 4th the Denison Care Center sent out a release alerting friends and family of the facility that they 3 additional confirmed cases of COVID19. As of yesterday the total number of positive residents was 5 and total number of positive staff was 4. The facility continues to be in daily contact with the Department of Health.

 

 

-After meeting last week, the IKM-Manning Community School district Board of Education have announced that they will be extending their Wednesday distance learning days throughout the entire first semester which runs until December 18th. In-person instruction will continue to be held all other weekdays and Wednesday will be reserved for specified instruction and assessments and to allow time for custodial staff to deep clean and sanitize. Plans are in process for parent-teachers conferences to take place virtually and those details will be released soon.

 

 

-In an incident report from the Denison Police Department, on Saturday, October 3rd, just before 3:00 p.m., 37 year old Shannon Mink-Price of Kiron was charged with 5th degree theft at the Denison Walmart after allegedly taking items totaling over $90.

 

6 days prior, on September 27th sometime approximately between 1 and 4 in the morning, many different tools varying in value were stolen on 7th street when the Siemer Plumbing and Heating van was broken into. The offender is still unknown and an investigation is ongoing.

 

 

-Early voting has started for the November 3rd general election. Residents of Crawford County will soon be filling out their ballots as over 2500 absentee ballots went out in the mail this morning from the Crawford County Courthouse. Any registered voter in Iowa may request to vote their ballot absentee. To vote absentee by mail you must complete a request form. You may contact your local Auditor’s Office to request that a form be sent to you. To be sent an absentee ballot by mail, the Auditor’s Office must receive your Absentee Ballot Request form by 5 pm on the Friday 10 days before the General Election. In-person absentee voting is available in the Auditor’s Office during regular business hours. The deadline for in-person absentee is 5 pm on the Monday before the election. For Crawford County residents during the general election, absentee voting may be made available at various satellite locations throughout the county. More information on absentee voting, tracking your absentee ballot, absentee voting for healthcare facility residents, hospital patients, and college students may be found at crawfordcounty.iowa.gov
