Denison City Council Holds Special Meeting in Regards to Washington Park
After Monday night’s Denison Parks and Recreation special meeting, the Denison City Council held a special meeting on Tuesday night, August 22nd which also focused on plans for Washington Park. City Clerk Jodie Flaherty talked about what was initially discussed in the meeting. “They discussed different options for Washington Park; how they are going to proceed as they are going to send an RFP to multiple playground vendors. The RFP when it comes back , they’ll review it and hopefully come together on what playground they would like to choose and what vendor they would like to use.” The City also met that night with their engineer firm in order to come up with a master plan for the park Flaherty said. “They also met with our city engineer’s firm, Beck Engineering and the gentleman’s name was Mike Cedar; he specializes in master planning for parks and he is going to put together a proposal to present the council for a potential master plan for Washington Park.” Flaherty went on to outline the next steps for the City moving forward. “Right now what the City needs to decide is after they receive their proposals back they'll need to decide how much they're willing to spend on the playground equipment. It will be City Council that will make that decision.” Flaherty hopes that the City Council will make the decision on the playground equipment in the fall of this year.
