Denison High School to Host Career Fair Wednesday, September 27th
Denison High School will host a career fair on Wednesday, September 27th at the High School Gym. Dana Marten with Denison High School said why they host this event. “We started the year before Covid and wanted to organize an event for the students where they could get some exposure to careers and a way to improve themselves: their personal safety, or their health or mental well being. So we just really wanted to try to pursue this so see what their lives might be after high school.” Marten said there will be a lot of participating businesses. “40 businesses participating from trade to business to agriculture. We tried to reach out to all the local businesses in our community and surrounding communities to hit all aspects of different careers.” Michael Phipps with Denison Schools said this event brings a positive impact to the community each time they do it. “I think it’s been a great event for our kids. We've always had positive feedback from them and from the community members that participate that day. We’ve had some different iterations over the years and tweaked different things. Each year we try to improve it and we’ve had some good feedback. Kids have gotten some good jobs after having talks with our businesses and just exploring different options for what they can do after high school.” For more information on the upcoming career fair at Denison High School, one can call the school at (712) 263-310.
