BVU, Crawford County Broadcasting Corp. Align Through Strategic Partnership
Buena Vista University (BVU) and Crawford County Broadcasting Corp. have entered a Strategic Partnership that mutually benefits both organizations as they strive to strengthen the communities they serve.
This partnership allows for employees of Crawford County Broadcasting Corp., as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.
“This Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University will be a great benefit to our employees,” says Crawford County Broadcasting Corp. Business Manager Markita Mujica. “We have a few younger people working at KDSN, so it would be a great opportunity to advance education.”
Crawford County Broadcasting Corp. serves Crawford County and the surrounding area through KDSN Radio, the Hive of local news, sports, farm reports, and entertainment for west central Iowa. The corporation, which is a member of the Iowa Broadcasters Association, maintains 12 full- and part-time employees at the adult contemporary radio station KDSN FM 104.9 and country music station KDSN AM 1530.
BVU has long enjoyed strong educational ties in and around Denison, home to Western Iowa Tech Community College, a campus that has collaborated with BVU for decades. Students enrolled in a program through WITCC can seamlessly transfer their credits toward their bachelor’s degree at BVU. Students receive personalized support including admissions and enrollment counseling and academic advising right in Denison through BVU’s office on the WITCC campus.
“Buena Vista University is eager to welcome Crawford County Broadcasting Corp. as a new member of our Strategic Partnerships initiative,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “We look forward to seeing Crawford County Broadcasting Corp.’s employees strengthen their careers through education while benefiting the communities they serve.”
