One fatality when 2 semis collide at Highway 59 and 141 Monday
The Iowa State Patrol reports 65 year old Douglas L. Hook of Carroll was killed late Monday afternoon when 2 semis collided at the intersection on Highway 59 and 141. A 2018 Peterbilt Conventional, driven by Hook was traveling west on Highway 141, crossing the intersection with Highway 59. A 2015 Freightliner Conventional, driven by 23 year old Hayden H. Leonard of Millville, MN was traveling north on Highway 59 and struck the Hook semi in the northbound lane of Highway 59. The Hook semi came to rest in the northwest ditch of the intersection. The Leonard semi came to rest west of the intersection on V Avenue. Hook was transported to Crawford County Hospital in Denison and died of injuries sustained in the accident. The accident caused the intersection to be blocked for several hours.
