Seth Weis is New Crawford County Assessor
Last week, after a lengthy process, Seth Weis was offered the position of Crawford County Assessor. This process involved the Assessor Conference Board voting on candidates for the position which was made up of Crawford County Board of Supervisors, Crawford County City Mayors and Crawford County superintendents with each group getting one vote.
As deputy assessor, Weis was already the acting assessor for the county after the previous assessor departed which gave him some valuable experience to help him earn this new position.
The Assessor’s primary duty and responsibility is to assess all real property within their jurisdiction except that which is otherwise provided by law. This would include residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural classes of property. The assessor determines a full or partial value of new construction, or improvements depending upon the state of completion.
