Sac County Officials Arrest Two People for Domestic Marijuana Growth Operation
SCHALLER, IOWA: On August 16, 2024 around 1745 hours, Sac County Deputies executed a search warrant at 509 South Perth Street in Schaller. The purpose of this initial search warrant was to obtain evidence in an ongoing criminal mischief investigation. Deputies detained household residents 42-year-old Keegan Cross and 65-year-old Glenda Turnquist until the entirety of the residence was cleared to ensure no other subjects were present.
While walking through the basement, deputies observed several marijuana plants in various stages of growth. A second search warrant was obtained and executed for the purpose of searching for controlled substances. A marijuana grow operation was located in the basement which included over 40 marijuana plants, grow lights, and ventilated grow tents amongst other materials to grow
and maintain marijuana plants. Sac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lake View Police
Department during this incident.
Keegan Cross’ charges thus far include the following with a bond of $5600:
-Iowa Code 124.401(d): Manufacture of a controlled substance, marijuana under 50 kilograms, a Class D
Felony
-Iowa Code 124.414: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor
-Iowa Code 719.1(1)(b): Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor
Glenda Turnquist’s charges thus far include the following with a bond of $5300:
-Iowa Code 124.401(d): Manufacture of a controlled substance, marijuana under 50 kilograms, a Class D
Felony
-Iowa Code 124.414: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor
For reference, both Mr. Cross and Ms. Turnquist have previous convictions for controlled substance
violations stemming from quite similar search warrants at this exact same location in both 2017 and 2018.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
