Collision outside Breda leaves two injured

Just minor injuries were sustained in an accident in which two semi-tractor trailers collided west of Breda on Monday afternoon. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at the intersection of 120th St. and Concord Avenue around 1:20 P.M. The investigation shows a 2007 International 8000 Series driven by 39 year old Nathan Mumm of Harlan was headed east on 120th and had stopped at the posted sign. Believing the intersection was a four way stop, Mumm continued on through the intersection and was struck on the rear driver's side of his trailer by a 2012 International Prostar that was headed south and driven by 40 year old Justin Watje of Dow city. Damage to Mumm's trailer is estimated to be $6,500, and was able to be driven from the scene. Watje's semi sustained roughly $15,000 in damage and had to be towed. Both drivers were treated at the scene for possible minor injuries but were not transported for further treatment. Mumm was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
