Road closure near Black Hawk Lake
A portion of South State Road near the inlet bridge at Black Hawk Lake at Lake View will be closed for several weeks while construction on a fish barrier project begins this week. Landwehr Construction, from St. Cloud, Minnesota is the company contracted to build the lorger and more effective barrier. The project's funding was initiated in 2017 when the Black Hawk Lake Protective Association contributed $10,000 and the Lake View City Council appropriated $300,000. A chunk of that came from Iowa's State Revolving Fund which is supposed to encourage communities to put emphasis on water quality projects. The fish barrier will create an obstruction preventing certain types of fish from entering specific areas of Black Hawk Lake as well as provide other benefits.
