Multiple Agencies Respond to Blaze at 705 Highway 39
(Denison, IA) A fire that broke out at a commercial building in Denison on Wednesday afternoon prompted a massive emergency response, including multiple fire departments and ambulances, but fortunately resulted in no injuries.
At approximately 3:47 p.m., an auto-aid alarm was triggered for a structure fire at 705 Highway 39. Firefighters arrived to find smoke pouring from the rear of the 14,000-square-foot building. By 3:54 p.m., a second alarm was issued, bringing additional fire companies to the scene.
The responding departments included Denison, Dow City-Arion, Manilla, Vail, Westside, Kiron, and Schleswig, with ambulances from CCMH, Kiron, and Manilla also on hand. Support from Denison Police Department, Crawford County Emergency Management, and DMU was also provided.
The fire was officially declared knocked down at 4:43 p.m., and crews remained on-site until approximately 5:52 p.m. The building, which has an estimated value of $360,000, sustained significant damage, though no cause for the fire has been confirmed at this time.
There were no injuries reported, and officials are continuing their investigation into the cause of the blaze.
