Lenox Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Damaging Statues At Cemetery In Templeton
A woman from Lenox has entered a not guilty plea to two charges of criminal mischief following the vandalism of three statues at a cemetery in Templeton. Court documents from the Carroll County District Court show that 39-year-old Amanda Lea Jackson was arrested on December 9, 2024, after allegedly damaging the statues at Sacred Heart Cemetery on October 29. A witness reported seeing a brown SUV driving recklessly as it left the cemetery around 11:50 a.m. Further investigation led to Jackson being identified through security footage at Waspy's Truck Stop. The video showed her driving a 2011 brown Chevy Equinox at about 10:46 a.m. and wearing slippers that were found at the crime scene. The cost to replace the damaged statues is estimated at approximately $13,500. Jackson now faces two second-degree criminal mischief charges, both class D felonies. She is currently being held at the Carroll County Jail with a $1,000 surety bond. Her trial is set for March 25 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If convicted, Jackson could face up to ten years in prison and fines totaling $20,490.
