SAC COUNTY, Iowa — After nearly four decades in law enforcement, Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure has formally announced his retirement, effective June 26, 2025. In a public statement addressed to the citizens of Sac County, McClure reflected on his 37-year career and expressed deep gratitude for the support and trust he has received throughout his tenure.
“Serving Sac County and its communities has been the honor of a lifetime,” McClure stated. “I am incredibly proud of the work we have done together and the progress we have made.”
Throughout his career, McClure has been a steadfast presence in Sac County, known for his commitment to public safety, community engagement, and departmental integrity. He highlighted the community’s resilience and generosity as foundational to the Sheriff’s Office’s accomplishments.
Looking ahead, McClure emphasized the importance of a smooth leadership transition and pledged his full cooperation in ensuring continuity within the department. He also called attention to one of the county’s most pressing needs—the replacement of the nearly 90-year-old jail facility.
“A safe, secure, and modern facility is essential for public safety, the well-being of our staff, and the effective administration of justice in Sac County,” McClure said, urging the community to come together in support of the effort.
Though he will be stepping away from active duty, McClure assured residents that his commitment to Sac County remains strong.
“While my retirement marks the end of one chapter, I remain committed to the future of this community and will continue to support the work of the Sheriff’s Office in any way I can.”
