Ida Grove Woman Sentenced to 50 Years for Son's Death

An Ida Grove woman, Billie Mosier, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the death of her three-year-old son, Jordan Reed.
Mosier, 24, received her sentence on Friday after being convicted of one count of Child Endangerment on April 4. In addition to prison time, she must pay $150,000 in restitution.
The case began on May 4, 2023, when the Battle Creek Ambulance Service responded to a call at 500 Maple Street in Battle Creek for an unresponsive child. Jordan Reed was found not breathing and was rushed to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove before being transferred to Omaha Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day.
Mosier initially told authorities that she found her son slumped over in his car seat, believing he strangled himself on the chest strap after falling asleep. However, an autopsy by the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner revealed that while Jordan died of strangulation, his injuries did not match Mosier’s account.
Mosier surrendered to the Ida County Sheriff’s Office on November 30, 2023.
