Crawford County Household Hazardous Waste Clean-up Day Set for June 21

DENISON, Iowa – Crawford County residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous materials during the annual Household Hazardous Waste Clean-up Day, scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The event will take place at the usual collection site, located south of Burger King, across from the County Shed, at 422 S. 12th Street, Denison.

Residents of Crawford County are encouraged to clean out garages, basements, closets, and storage areas to gather items they no longer need. Disposal is free and open only to residential participants.

Accepted items include:

 

  • Aerosol cleaners and paints
  • Ammonia-based cleaners
  • Antifreeze
  • Automotive and household batteries
  • Fertilizers and weed killers
  • Fluorescent and LED light bulbs
  • Gasoline, kerosene
  • Motor oil, oil filters
  • Lead-based paints, stains, and varnishes
  • Metal polishes and rust removers
  • Mercury thermometers and
