Iowa’s Prohibition Past Comes to Life in Denison with Author Ann Hanigan Kotz

DENISON, IA — History buffs and curious minds alike are invited to step back in time and explore one of the most colorful chapters of Iowa’s past at an upcoming event titled “Iowa’s Prohibition & Bootlegging Legacy.”

Scheduled for Saturday, August 9 from 3 to 4 p.m. at The Old Fashioned, located at 1211 Broadway, Suite 200 in Denison, the event will feature published author and historian Ann Hanigan Kotz, who will guide guests through Iowa’s Prohibition era and the clandestine world of bootlegging.

Guests can expect an engaging hour filled with stories of secret speakeasies, bold bootleggers, and the social and cultural impact of Prohibition on communities across the state. Kotz, known for her in-depth knowledge and captivating storytelling, will shine a light on the people and events that helped define this turbulent period in Iowa’s history.

Each attendee will also receive one complimentary cocktail of their choice, adding a spirited touch to the historical exploration.
