Free Outdoor Movies at Washington Park Postponed; Faith Leaders Invited to Healing Event

DENISON, Iowa – The popular Free Outdoor Movies at Washington Park event has been postponed until September 27 following last week’s tragic incident that left one man dead and a Denison police officer injured.
Organizer Jennifer Smith announced the decision, saying it was made out of respect for the loss of life and the impact on the community.
In the meantime, Smith is calling on local pastors, priests, ministers, and other faith leaders to join together for a community healing event at Washington Park. She envisions a faith-based gathering where messages of hope, healing, unity, and prayer can be shared for the community, the officer, the deceased, and their families.
Smith is also seeking singers who would be willing to lead songs during the event. “I am not a very religious person compared to many, so please show me a little grace for any religious errors I may make along the way here,” Smith said. “That said, I know the power of prayer and I just want our community to heal.”
Faith leaders and musicians interested in participating are encouraged to contact Smith at jennifer@zuppandzupp.com.
