Local Artist Randy Carillo Unveils “Titan #1” — A Monumental Leap in His Creative Journey

For Denison artist Randy Carillo, the power of large-scale art has always carried a certain gravity. “For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the gravity of large works of art, their scale, their intensity, their undeniable presence,” he said.
Now, Carillo is stepping into that world himself with the launch of “Titan #1,” a massive 107x80 canvas that marks the beginning of a new chapter in his work.
In a side-by-side photo, Carillo is seen admiring one of the monumental masterpieces that inspired him, while a towering blank canvas in his own studio waited patiently for its transformation. “Standing before them, I’ve always felt a mix of wonder and curiosity, imagining the courage it takes to bring something that bold to life,” he explained.
That courage has now become reality. Carillo says “This isn’t just a painting. It’s a bold move, a promise to myself, and the beginning of something greater.”
“Titan #1” will make its debut during Carillo’s Open Studio 1-Year Anniversary Celebration, where community members will get the first look at what he hopes will be the start of many monumental works to come.
