Crawford County, Iowa – A sentencing date has been set for a Dow City man convicted earlier this summer on three counts of third-degree sexual abuse. According to Crawford County court records, 39-year-old Timothy Craig Mitchell will be sentenced on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Crawford County Courthouse in Denison.
Mitchell was found guilty by a jury in July following a trial in Crawford County District Court. The case involved multiple assaults that occurred between November 2022 and January 2023 while Mitchell and the victim were employed at Cheers, a bar in Dow City. Court testimony indicated Mitchell used physical force to compel the victim into sexual acts after hours at the establishment.
The victim reported the abuse to law enforcement on January 31, 2023. Mitchell was arrested the following day and later entered a plea of not guilty. Jurors ultimately convicted him on three counts but acquitted him on two additional charges tied to separate alleged incidents.
Each Class C felony conviction carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. With three convictions, Mitchell faces up to 30 years behind bars when sentenced in October.
