Timothy Craig Mitchell of Dow City Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison on Sexual Abuse Convictions

DOW CITY, Iowa – Timothy Craig Mitchell of Dow City has been sentenced to prison after being convicted on three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.
The sentencing took place Friday morning, October 3, 2025, in Crawford County District Court. Court records show the charges stem from incidents that occurred between November 2022 and January 2023 while Mitchell was employed at Cheers in Dow City.
Judge’s orders call for an indeterminate prison term not to exceed 10 years on each count. However, the sentences were ordered to be served concurrently, meaning they will run at the same time for a single indeterminate term not to exceed 10 years.
Once in the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections, the Iowa Board of Parole will determine if and when Mitchell may be released before serving the full 10 years.
Mitchell had previously been found not guilty on two other counts tied to separate alleged incidents.
He was taken into custody following Friday’s hearing.
