Bill Bruce Named District Governor-Elect for Rotary District 6000
Rotary District 6000, which includes clubs across much of western and southern Iowa, has announced that Bill Bruce will serve as District Governor-Elect (DGE) for the 2026–2027 Rotary year. Bruce will lead the district alongside Rotary International President-Elect Yinka Babalola, whose leadership is known globally for emphasizing service, integrity, and cross-cultural collaboration within Rotary.
The announcement was made during a district event recognizing outstanding Rotarians and celebrating leadership transitions within the organization. Bruce’s upcoming role will position him as the primary liaison between Rotary International and more than 60 local Rotary clubs across Iowa, guiding community projects, membership growth, and humanitarian initiatives both locally and abroad.
The title District Governor-Elect (DGE) is given to the individual selected to serve as District Governor in the following Rotary year. The DGE spends one year preparing for the role through leadership training, regional conferences, and strategic planning with other district leaders before officially assuming office.
Rotary District 6000 is part of a global network of over 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs worldwide. Members focus on key causes including promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, and growing local economies.
Bruce’s term as District Governor will begin on July 1, 2026, following the completion of his preparatory year. His leadership will continue the district’s long tradition of “Service Above Self,” the Rotary motto that inspires volunteer and professional service across Iowa communities and around the world.
