Denison Police Department Accident Reports - March 1st, 2021

The Denison Police Department reported that just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning they found a 2003 Honda Accord stuck in a snow bank. The vehicle appeared to have struck a light pole in front of the Bank of Iowa building. The front bumper and license plate were located next to the pole. Damage estimates totaled $3,000 including $2,000 for the vehicle and $1,000 for the pole.

Denison Police reported that around 3:30 p.m. this past Thursday afternoon 71-year-old Rosemary Hansen of Denison was backing out of her parking spot at UPS and 49-year-old Sara Luft was pulling into the spot next to her. The right rear end of Hansen's 2009 Dodge Caliber hit the left rear end of Luft's 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe. Both vehicles sustained an estimated $1,000 in rear end damage but no injuries were reported.

Denison Police also reported that just before 5 a.m. last Monday morning 57-year-old Epigmenio Jaime-Sanchez of Vail was traveling in the right lane of westbound Highway 30 in a 2005 Ford when he rear-ended 65-year-old Michael Licktieg of Kiron. Jaime-Sanchez stated that he could not see Licktieg because of smoke coming from Licktieg's 1990 Ford. That truck was found to have mechanical issues and was smoking heavily from the engine compartment. The collision caused an estimate $8,000 in damage including $5,000 to the truck driven by Jaime-Sanchez but neither man was injured.
