Two Arrested Following Early-Morning Pursuit, Crash in Crawford County
DENISON, IA — Two people were arrested following a pursuit and crash in Crawford County early Sunday morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. when a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 22-year-old Carlos Gomez-Paz of Papillion, Nebraska, was traveling westbound on Highway 30 while attempting to elude Denison Police. At the intersection of Highway 30 and 12th Street, the vehicle collided with a southbound 2024 GMC Acadia driven by 30-year-old Blake Beymer of Denison.
After the crash, the SUV came to rest south of the intersection, while the Elantra ended up in a parking lot west of the intersection. The State Patrol reports that both drivers and a passenger in the SUV, who was not identified, were treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.
Gomez-Paz was arrested on a charge of eluding, and Beymer was arrested for operating while intoxicated (OWI), according to the Iowa State Patrol.
