(Logan, IA) – A collision Monday evening in Harrison County resulted in one death and left another person seriously injured.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident occurred at approximately 5:42 p.m. on Highway 30 near 260th Street, southwest of Logan. Authorities report that a 2012 Toyota RAV4 was traveling east on Highway 30 while a 2018 pickup was traveling westbound.
According to officials, the SUV crossed the centerline and collided with the pickup in the westbound lane. The driver of the SUV, 30-year-old Merari Eduviges Perez of Manilla, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the pickup, 57-year-old Daryl Jay Fichter of Missouri Valley, was injured and transported by Harrison County EMS to Missouri Valley Hospital. Authorities say both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Logan Police.
