Denison Police Reporting 2 Very Different Parking Lot Accidents

The Denison Police Department released reports about two recent traffic accidents.

The first happened just before 1:30 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot on Wednesday. The report states that 79-year-old Jackie Sawyer was driving her 2004 Toyota Camry east through the parking lot and side-swiped a parked 2015 GMC Yukon. Sawyer told officers that he didn't realize the vehicle was that close to him. Damage estimates totaled $4,500 including $2,500 to the Yukon but both vehicles were driven away from the scene.

Police released another report filed earlier this month regarding an incident on February 25th. The document states that a 2020 Ford Explorer went over the curb on 2nd Avenue North and landed on a retaining wall in the parking lot of Sunshine Styles. The vehicle struck the support/guide wire to a utility pole and caused the stake to come out of the ground. Officers say the Explorer was unoccupied upon arrival with the doors locked. Waderich's Towing later transported the vehicle to the City Impound Lot and $500 is the estimated repair cost. Authorities say they made several unsuccessful attempts to contact the registered owner 64-year-old Roscinda Hatterman and gather more information. They checked the listed address but no one would answer the door.
