One Killed, One Seriously Injured in Highway 30 Crash in Denison

One person was killed and another seriously injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 in Denison.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:50 p.m. Monday, August 24, at the intersection of eastbound Highway 30 and Chamberlain Drive.
The State Patrol reports a 2015 Lexus ES 350, driven by 33-year-old Mohit Kailashchandra Sharma of Denison, had been traveling westbound on Highway 30 before turning onto Chamberlain Drive. Investigators say the Lexus then pulled from Chamberlain Drive into the path of an eastbound 1990 Peterbilt driven by 72-year-old Michael Leonard Krajicek of Denison. The truck struck the passenger side of the Lexus.
Sharma suffered serious injuries and was transported by LifeFlight to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
A passenger in the Lexus, 29-year-old Himalkumar Mehulkumar Patel of Denison, was pronounced dead at the scene. The State Patrol report indicates Patel was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Iowa State Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. Denison Police and Crawford County authorities assisted at the scene
