Denison-Schleswig Activities Director Derek Fink Passes Away at 42

The Denison and Denison-Schleswig communities are mourning the passing of longtime educator, coach and Activities Director Derek Fink, who passed away Tuesday at the age of 42 following a battle with ALS.
A Denison native and former Monarch athlete, Fink devoted much of his professional career to serving students and supporting athletic programs within the Denison-Schleswig Community School District. Through his work as an educator, coach and administrator, he became a familiar and respected presence within the school and community.
Fink's contributions were formally recognized on September 27, 2024, when he was inducted into Denison's Wall of Pride. The honor recognized his accomplishments and lasting impact on Denison-Schleswig students, athletes and the broader Monarch community.
KDSN joins the community in remembering Fink and extends its condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, students and all those impacted by his passing.
