MRHC to Host Wave of Light Ceremony Honoring Pregnancy and Infant Loss

Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) will host a Wave of Light ceremony to honor pregnancy and infant loss on Thursday, October 15, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Timmerman Shelter House at Manning City Park.
“We hope this ceremony provides a meaningful space for families to remember and celebrate the babies who will always hold a special place in their hearts,” said MRHC Chief Nursing Officer Michelle Andersen, RN, BSN.
A short program will begin at 6:30, and a candle lighting will take place at 7 p.m. The program will feature Pastor Jonathan Conner of Zion Lutheran Church, who will share a message and offer a prayer. MRHC therapist Hollie Schechinger, LISW, will also speak about navigating grief and the mental health resources available at MRHC.
Families are invited to submit a baby’s name to be honored during the program. Names can be submitted at https://mrhcia.com/event/wave-
The Wave of Light is observed annually on October 15 as part of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Families worldwide light candles at 7 p.m. and leave them burning for at least one hour, creating a continuous “wave of light” around the world in remembrance of babies who have died during pregnancy or infancy.
The event is open to anyone who would like to attend, whether honoring a personal loss or supporting a loved one.
