Denison Police Reporting Traffic Accident, Domestic Abuse Arrest
The Denison Police Department is reporting a pair of incidents from this past Friday.
The first is a motor vehicle accident that occurred at just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and 4th Avenue North. The report states that 70-year-old Mark Shives of Denison was eastbound on 4th from a stop sign in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. It also says 39-year-old Fatima Lupian was southbound on Main Street approaching the intersection in a 2008 Dodge Charger. The document then states that Shives failed to see Lupian and struck the right front of the Charger. Shives was later cited for failing to obey the stop sign. East and west traffic is required to stop at that intersection due to posted stop signs. The damage estimates include $4,000 for the Charger and $1,500 for the Trailblazer. Both vehicles were driven away and no injuries were reported.
There is also a public release regarding events that occurred around 8 p.m. that same night. Police arrested Jose' Luis Pena Sanchez near the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue North. They took the 32-year-old male into custody and charged him with domestic abuse assault after he allegedly smacked a woman's arm and kicked her back while reaching for the child they share.
All charges are allegations and the people named in this case are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
