Denison City Council approves new hires, Homes For Iowans quote

The Denison City Council unanimously carried several measures including a few new hires during the second regular meeting of May on Tuesday night.

They approved the promotion of Christy Welch to Deputy Clerk effective Wednesday, May 19th. Applications for Welch's former position of administrative assistant are available online or at City Hall. The council also endorsed hiring Jim Krajichek and Tristan Wyney as non-certified police officers effective June 1st with plans for both of them to attend the police academy in the coming months. Members approved a Frazier Contracting quote of around $40,000 for work related to the basement of the upcoming Home for Iowans project. The council authorized a special event permit and waived the usual fee for the Crawford County Memorial Day Service. They tabled a motion to appoint Corey Curnyn as Mayor Pro-tem. They honored one citizen's request for a hearing regarding a recent mowing invoice and ended up reducing the usual fine of $250 to $100.
