Denison FBLA headed to Chicago in late June
The Denison Community School District Board of Education approved a trip to Chicago, Illinois for a student group on Monday night.
The board approved four students attending the National Convention of the Future Business Leaders of America organization. That event takes place June 28th-July 3rd in Chicago. The board heard from freshmen students Celeste Cortez and Achol Anywar as part of a Denison High School Monarch Academy presentation from Principal Dave Wiebers. The three board members in attendance on Monday also toured both of the Broadway Elementary School buildings before meeting in the library.
The board approved 177 names for the Class of 2022 Graduation, pending that students complete all of their requirements. Graduation is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Denison High School gym.
The board approved sharing services related to human resources with the Schleswig Community School. They approved a personnel report that included six resignations or retirements along with a pair of appointments featuring the return of Raquel Ortiz as a high school Spanish teacher. They accepted the results of the audit from the Fiscal Year 2021 as presented. They set nearly all of the fees and rates for the upcoming school year with substitute pay raised to $14.17 per hour and a 10-cent increase to the adult meal charge. They will re-visit athletic fees at their June meeting after gathering more information. The board reached a consensus to move their June and July meeting times to noon after a brief discussion.
