Crawford County Supervisors update handbook, Region XII board
The Crawford County Board of Supervisors made an appointment on the Region XII board and amended the handbook during Tuesday’s meeting.
Chairman Kyle Schultz says the supervisors unanimously re-appointed Sheri Vaughn to the Region XII Regional Housing Authority Board of Directors. Vaughn is now set to be on that board through September 2023. Schultz says the supervisors also updated handbook language about Secondary Roads buying certain items.
“It’s just some word changes for Secondary Roads where their clothing allowance always was used for purchasing just safety boots. Now they can purchase jeans and gloves and stuff of that nature. Expendable, wearable items that they wear out,” said Schultz.
He says they expect to re-visit the discussion item related to a credit card for Secondary Roads next week. Schultz says they also talked about replacing the lawn on the west side of the jail.
“There’s a steep spot that our janitors don’t like mowing. We’re going to look at putting some sort of ground cover or shrubs or something there to where they don’t have to mow that part. They were going to check in with some of the local landscaping places and see if we can come up with a plan,” said Schultz.
He says they are looking into a possible tax abatement for a property where a mobile home burned in the Sunset Village park.
“I don’t know if we’ve ever done that type of thing before so we’re going to research that and move forward with that next week probably. I don’t think we’re against doing it if we can help somebody out. It’s just we want to make sure we’re doing the right thing,” said Schultz.
The Denison Volunteer Fire Department reported no injuries during that fire in July.
