Ar-We-Va special election next Tuesday on PERL tax levy
Ar-We-Va is among the school districts holding a special election in our listening area on Tuesday, September 13th. Principal Chris Petersen says the vote is on a Public Education and Recreation Levy that could generate around $40,000 each year if approved.
“It’s something that would give us the opportunity to look into partnering with the community on improving some parks or playgrounds or things like that,” said Petersen.
He says Ar-We-Va has one of the lowest levy rates in the state and this measure will require a simple majority vote to pass. Petersen says the elementary school playground which is also used by the public is one place the money could go.
“Kind of bring it up to code a little bit more so it’s accessible for all kids. We’ve chatted just a little bit with some city council members here in Westside about the possibility of partnering and doing something down at the park there with the improvements that they are doing too,” said Petersen.
Crawford County voters can visit the polls in person at the Vail Community Building and Carroll County can vote at Arcadia City Hall from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
