Denison City Council still looking to finalize Boulders agreement
The Denison City Council tabled a motion to approve a new management agreement for the Boulders Event Center on Tuesday.
Mayor Pam Soseman highlighted that agenda item earlier this week.
“We knew going into this year that the current management team was looking at possibly resigning or stepping back. So we put out an RFQ for qualifications for anyone that would want to lease the facility and run that. That will save the city of Denison a considerable amount of money,” said Soseman.
Part of the council’s brief discussion about the item included having the agreement say any potential property taxes shall be paid by the owner. The city and Bogeys Grille owner Chris Pauley expect to begin a 4-year lease on October 1st. The council set a public hearing for Tuesday, September 27th at noon and they are hoping to sell the Avenue C house that day. They updated Chapter 4 of the city code to give Code Enforcement the authority to issue certain citations. The council also discussed cell phones for city employees and repairs to the flashing traffic lights at Highway 30 and 20th Street before tabling each of those items.
